Maria received her Bachelors of Science degree in Business Administration from California State University of Los Angeles in 1982. While working full time as an accountant during the day, she attended Loyala Law School at night. Maria obtained her CPA license in 1985 and her Juris Doctor degree in 1988. Maria has practiced law since 1992, primarily focusing in the areas of Business and Real Estate law.
Prior to practicing law, Maria gained a broad spectrum of experience in the areas of tax compliance and consulting, auditing, and real estate development. She also acquired valuable experience as a law intern at the Tax Division of the U.S. Attorney's Office in Los Angeles.
